2019 Ford Kuga Rumors
The German Auto Bild magazine says they have inside information about Ford’s second smallest SUV, saying it will enter production in November 2019. It will grow in size and practicality thanks to the new global platform currently under Focus. Like the VW Group, Ford is also planning a new Focus CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle) to replace the C-MAX. Think of them as Blue Oval rivals from SEAT Ateca and VW Tiguan.
You can see the rendering in the video below. However, know that it is purely speculative. We’ll catch a glimpse of Ford’s new design language when the new Focus hatchback comes out, but it looks like it’s the same as Mondeo / Fusion.

While CO2 emissions will be lowered in the model range, the plug-in hybrid model will rival any new crossover that can run with electricity. However, you will not see Kuga / Escape PHEV until 2021. Its power seems to come from a combination of turbo 150 HP engine (say it’s a 3 cylinder motor) and 88 kW. So we hope to sniff like the Volkswagen GTE model.
Their written report was launched a few days before the video also suggested there will be Kuga RS which given the torque of 284 PS and 380 Nm. The figure is much closer to the Focus ST than the 350 HP all-wheel drive monster which is the Focus RS. There may be limitations on gearboxes that we do not know, but can not they call it Kuga ST?
Speaking of Focus ST, it will donate 184 HP diesel engine, 400 Nm 2.0 liter. You might combine it with the ST-Line kit for a good balance between economic and sporty appeal.
Ford Kuga is a purely European thing, not at all shared with American siblings, even platforms, or machines. It’s also so different that you can only guess rudely that they are from the same brand if someone removes their badge. But after the “blue oval” applies the “One Ford” strategy, we can say that Kuga and Escape fall into the melt just for the surface as a uniform product. But that’s not true. The present generation Kuga / Escape is a simple evolution of the European model, keeping the platform of the previous Kuga gene and offering the next chapter of its design language.
Brilliant. It seems that Americans are more captivated by the European-made Escape than the real Europeans. Over the last three years, Escape has sold more than 300k units per year, which is a much larger number than was achieved in the past, it also now allows it to blend in with other best segments (RAV4, CR-V and Rogue).
In the old continent, that limit breaks the 100k limit for the last two years, which is nice but not great. Anyway, the current generation debuted in 2012 and because it has several miles under the belt replacement approaching 2019 Ford Kuga. As for the American reader’s understanding that Ford Fuga Ford 2010 Ford Escape 2020 (noble is the invention of the concept of “model year”), and all words underneath will apply to both.
2019 Ford Kuga Engine Specs
What are the rumors? Currently, the only rumor that can be obtained comes from German Auto Bild magazine claiming that they are supported by an insider source. The source claims that the new Kuga will continue to use the same platform with Focus, though it will be a new one. It will debut with a new Focus that should arrive in 2018 for the 2019 model year, or one year before Kuga does it, which will give us more insight into what to expect from the upcoming SUV.
Rumors further tell us that plug-in hybrids are in preparation, with a powertrain consisting of a three-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 150 hp and 118 hp electric motor power. The PHEV is part of Ford’s recent strategy that will also feature a hybrid version of Mustang, F-150, Expedition, along with Lincoln MKC and Navigator. Surely, Europeans will not see anyone other than Kuga and maybe Mustang.
There are some out there hanging around on the Internet, but they do not say anything. Since the new Kuga is in the early stages of development, the mule test rests on the existing body, only revealing the stretched dimension. And that will be true because the new platform will bring an extra inch for the interior space.
As for the visual side, we can only use pure guess. Given that the new Fiesta made its debut with lighter style evolution (not yet in the US), it may be the same saved for the new Kuga. Of course, it will be even more obvious when the new Focus breaks the cover, perhaps dictating some styling touches to other brand models.
There is one more rumor circulating from German magazines and this is a hot song (ish). It is thought that Ford plans to introduce a Kuga RS version destined to boost 280 hp and 280 lb-ft (380 Nm) of torque, which is extraordinary news due to the lack of a compact mainstream crossover version, while the subcompact class hides gems like Soul Turbo. and Juke Nismo. The only thing that acts as a spoiler is the fact that currently available turbocharged 2.0 liter L4 delivers 245 hp and 275 lb-ft twist (372 Nm), which is not far from expected expected RS numbers. Furthermore, Focus with RS lettering generates 350 hp, even 370 with upgraded Mountune for now, which is sure to go up with a new generation. So, beware of Ford that dilutes the benefits of RS! The ST label fits very well with the anticipated numbers.
